Flower Friday -16/10/26

Another week done and dusted. It has been a wet one, with 92.2 mm at home so far. While it has been wet, there are still plenty of flowers around.

First up is broom milkwort, or Polygala virgata. I do love the colour of these flowers. Broom milkwort is a small shrub that comes from Southern Africa.

Bottlebrushes are still showing off with their red flowers. I do enjoy seeing these flowers out and about because they are bright and colourful. To me, they are also typically Australian in that they look like no other flowers I have seen anywhere else before.

Here is another of those uniquely Australian flowers, a spider flower, or Grevillea, that is in the process of opening up fully. If I had the space, my garden would be full of them, in every colour and variety available.

I think this flower comes from a flowering peach. I also enjoy seeing flowers like these. They are delicate, colourful, and attract bees. There are many varieties, of course, and I don’t know which it is at the moment. It is another thing to look into when I get chance!

These red geranium flowers are always nice to see. This particular plant has been flowering constantly for months now. There is always a place for reliable plants like these in the garden.

Murraya flowers are strongly scented and really pretty. You can always tell when this species is in flower because you can smell them from a mile away. Unfortunately, these flowers set off my hay fever.

That’s all for my flowers this week. I’ll no doubt have plenty more for you next Friday. I hope you have a week full of fragrant flowers.
