More new plants at home

Today, I brought home a new plant today. Its a native to the Sydney area, which is something new for my garden as I have veg and flowers dotted around usually. I don’t know why I don’t have more natives in my garden as I spend so much time in the bush!

The plant I have is a hop bush, Dodonaea triquetra. This is a common species around where I live and I see it quite often in Lane Cove National Park. The hop bush can commonly appear in dense colonies within disturbed areas of forests and across the forest as a whole.

I’m hoping that it will be happy here in my garden over the next couple of years.

The plant I brought home last week is doing well. Now that it’s getting enough water and sunshine and not stuck in a corner. I haven’t seen any flower buds yet, but I’m sure there will be soon.

My new salvia

Wile I potted up my new plant, I watered all my plants as it has been really warm again.
