Being back at work this week has meant that I have been out and about more again. I haven’t seen many flowers this week, but I have a few. It is a sort of in-between time where the flowers of summer are fan=ding and those of winter are only just getting going.
Bougainvillea plants are one of those plants that is delightful to look at from a distance, but awful to look after due to the spines along the stems. Thankfully, I can just look at these flowers and don’t have to keep it under control!

I love this particular frangipani, as it is the only one that I’ve ever seen with these bright pink flowers. All frangipanis are lovely, but this is my favourite.

I couldn’t get through a blog post about my favourite flowers of the week without including my dahlia flower at home. It is a lovely orange colour and puts a smile on my face every time I look out of my window.

Rhododendrons do have lovely flowers in a range of colours. Unfortunately, the Sydney climate encourages lace bug on the leaves, which doesn’t make for very nice looking plants. Fortunately, these white flowers are rather pretty.

Finally for today, I saw this little butterfly. It is a meadow argus (Junonia villida calybe). This species is found in Sydney through most of the year. Caterpillars are apparently black and spiky and are happy feeding on both native and exotic plants. It is a rather lovely butterfly, and was a nice end to a working day.

That is my week in flowers and a butterfly. I am happy to say that it is the end of my working week and I can enjoy my weekend.
