Flowers from January 2025

This week, I have been busy. Most working weeks are busy, but this past week has been particularly so for some reason. I haven’t had any chance to have a moment for my usual flower spotting that I would normally do. As this is the case this week, I thought I’d look through my pictures from January 2025 and pick out a few of my favourites from the month. I hope you enjoy. All are Australian natives.

Showy, colourful and always a personal favourite are grevillea flowers. I could have chosen many different grevillea flowers, but I am partial to the pink and yellow flowers of this particular cultivar, although I’m not totally sure which cultivar it is as there are so many similar ones.

This is the firewheel tree (Stenocarpus sinuatus) so called because of the colour of the circular flowers. I love the tree for these bright, quirky flowers. I just wish more of these trees were planted out in my local area!

Kangaroo paws have interesting flowers too. I love the yellow and green of these particular flowers, along with the rather unique look they have.

Finally, I’m going to include this photo of the Queensland bottle tree, Brachychiton rupestris, just because it is an odd looking tree and I love nature’s oddities!

That all from January 2025. Until next time, happy gardening.
