Flower Friday

It’s that time of the week again, where I talk about my favourite flowers and other plant related things from my week-mostly from work, but other places too.

I do have to say that palm trees are a group of plants that I really don’t like. They are messy and don’t add much to the landscape for me. In saying that, I thought this inflorescence looked rather good in the sunshine yesterday. I love the contrast of the red, yellow and blue.

While xanadu, pictured below is a rather overused plant where I work, I do like the shape of the interesting leaves, which is the only reason why you would have this in your garden.

Raphiolepis flowers are always a favourite of mine when they appear.

Long-time readers will know how much I love grevillea flowers. It’s the shower colourfulness of these flowers that I love about them.

I also enjoy looking at the leaves too.

This jade plant is nearly flowering and the leaves are looking fabulous. Unfortunately, this isn’t mine, which doesn’t get enough sun to get this colouring on it.

This tuckeroo (Tillia anacardioides) is flowering at the moment. I really like these trees as they aren’t a fussy tree, and stay looking good over winter due to being evergreen.

Finally, my African violet is putting on a good show this week with its purple flowers. This is my favourite houseplant for this reason.

That’s it for today, happy gardening and a good weekend.
