This weekend has been quiet on the gardening front, mainly because I felt like taking it easy. The last week was one of those weeks where I was tired for some unknown reason reason-I wasn’t particularly busy compared to normal and work wasn’t any more strenuous in any way. I get those weeks sometimes.
This week, I have only done some seed sowing. I have sown more leeks, onions, cauliflower, and broccoli, because these are some of the veg that we can use frequently and enjoy.
I haven’t potted up any of my smallest seedlings. As the weather is cooling down, all the growing media in the pots doesn’t get as warm as it would do in the summer. If plants are in put into pots too much bigger than the one they are in, the roots wont necessarily grow into the cold growing media of the new pot (it would also apply to putting plants in the ground). I therefore want to let my little plants do some more growing before potting them up.
With my other growing plants, I have some tomatoes growing well. While still really small and green, I have proper tomatoes now. There are still flowers on other tomato plants too. Some plants have been removed, mainly because they are smaller than the others and have had no sign of flowers on them-half way through autumn, I can’t justify keeping them. That’s the way it is with growing vegetables sometimes-each plant needs to work well in the way you want it too, otherwise there isn’t any point growing it. This is especially true in a small space.

Some beetroot is doing well. The last seed sowing I did of beetroot has gone quite well-I have several plants that have grown well so far.
The biggest Brussels sprouts plant I have has again been eaten by something, probably caterpillars-the smaller brassicas seem fine so far. I have seen a fair few caterpillars around this week when I have had a walk around my patio. There hasn’t been too much damage thankfully, apart from the one sprout plant!

Anyway, that’s all I have this week, so I’ll leave it here for today.
