My week in plants

I don’t have a huge amount this week but it’s always good to share what plant features that have made me smile this week. Trust me when I say that any joy I can find in my work is very much needed at the moment!

First up is the lovely purple coral pea (Hardenbergia violacea). It is my favourite climber/ground over with lovely purple flowers. This is a native plant here in Australia, that I’ve written about here:

This is broadleaf woodsorrel, a weed here in Australia. This is rather pretty though, the flowers are rather nice.

Last weekend I went for a brief walk in Dalrymple Hay Nature Reserve, which is close to where I live. It was so nice down there, with the birds and the odd rustle of the undergrowth for company. I find places like this so relaxing, especially when you know you are in the middle of civilisation but can’t really hear it!

This week has been a rather wet and soggy week, after a very hot Monday. I’m so glad we are getting rain again after what feels like a lifetime of none whatsoever. Today, we are apparently due to get between 8mm and 50mm of rain and potential storms, but I’ve seen no sign of it yet, apart from cloud.
