My week in plants

Yesterday, I completely forgot all about my usual Friday post about the plants that have made my week more enjoyable than it would otherwise have been. I was just rallying happy to have finished work in 37 degree Celsius heat-never nice to be working in! So, here are my plants.

I’ll start with a rose. While it isn’t my favourite sort of rose, it is still better having something that’s flowering than nothing at all!

These trees are at a park near me. I love gum trees, which are under appreciated by most-mainly because they were either planted in the wrong place and grew ‘too big’ (or in countries other than Australia, planted as a crop for whatever reason and then people complain about the fire hazard of these trees-their job is to be literal fire starters in the right conditions), or something got built in the way of these trees and the tree dropped a branch/fell over/set on fire or are just ‘in the way’. Normally they are problem because of human stupidity, not the tree being inherently an issue.

Flowers of crepe myrtles are very nice, whatever the colour. As is the case with me, white is my least favourite colour, especially when you can have pink and purple. Any flower is better than none, as I said, especially when bees are loving it.

I don’t know whether the colour comes out well or not, but the sunrise was amazing yesterday morning as I was getting ready to go to work yesterday. Lots of pink, purple and orange. Lovely.

Again, a crepe myrtle but this time the bark. As some of the bark is peeling away, the new bark looks really interesting to me.

Here are my little seedlings. I am a little excited about those that have germinated. I was going to pot them on this weekend but I think they need another week or so, just to allow the first true leaves to come through properly, meaning they are a little stronger.

That’s all for this week at the moment. I will be doing a little more seed sowing tomorrow, so I’ll talk about that tomorrow too. Bye for now and enjoy your weekend.
