Saturday morning is generally the time when I get the main part of my gardening at home done. This morning was the same, although not that much. Either way, I had a good time pottering.
I did do some seed sowing of some more beetroot seeds, some more spring onions and more Echeveria cante and Echeveria peacockii seeds. The final seeds I sowed were some carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus) seeds. I have decided that I am going to sow seeds of something every weekend. It may be one seed that I sow, but it’s something that I enjoy doing.

From the seeds that I sowed last week, most have now germinated, including Long Island and Red Rubine Brussels sprouts, the five different varieties of tomatoes, the three beetroot varieties and the spring onions. I’m still waiting for the capsicums, the sunflower and my two different echeveria species (which take up to a month to germinate). The others should hopefully germinate in the next week or so.

The weather today has been rather warm-the maximum temperature was 32.9 degrees Celsius, while the minimum last night was 16.8 degrees Celsius. It was lovely and sunny, but there has been a forecast of a storm or rain, neither of which have appeared as yet. Over the past week, there has been a day of over the top heat on Tuesday with it reaching 39 degrees at home. There has been some rain too, but nowhere near enough for my liking!
While not a busy weekend of gardening, it was enough to keep me happy.

Good grief. I can barely tolerate temperatures above 20C. When it gets closer to 30C, it’s insane. I know we’ve had temperatures above 30C, but it is quite rare. I can’t imagine being out and trying to work in temperatures like that!
It is really hard working in those temperatures-I have to admit I’ll spend a lot of time in the shade or the car with the air con on!
No kidding! This past summer, we were hitting temperatures around 25C, and found it too hot to get anything done outside. The temperature you get just blow me away!
