While I am out and about, I love looking at the plants around me. I am a plant geek through and through! All of the plants that I’m sharing today are from my pottering around doing my thing as I go.

These trees are all in a nurture reserve across the road from where I live. It’s a patch of remnant native vegetation of a type called ‘Blue Gum High Forest’. It is now a very rare type of vegetation particular to the north of Sydney. These trees are Sydney Blue gums or Eucalyptus saligna. I’ll do a post on this vegetation type soon to explain more about it.

I just love these flowers. They are a cultivar of Corymbia ficifolia. They really do stand out, but there is nothing wrong with that! This particular specimen is at my local pool and I love these trees as the flowers are the showiest version of my favourite flowers-those of the Myrtaceae family.

This is a eucalypt, also flowering at my local species. I’m not so sure on the species, but the next two pictures are of this tree.

Sydney red gums (Angophora costata) are my absolute favourite tree. Against the rather intense blue sky, this tree looks great.
