The plant geek got a bit excited!

Every now and then, I do get a little excited when I see plants doing their thing. I can’t help myself, they are really interesting!

These are the little seeds of a grass tree. This was flowering about a month to six weeks ago. As I’ve never see these before, I wanted a close up of them-I like being able to see as much of the plant as I possibly can, it helps you to learn how a plant looks when it’s healthy so you can see straight away when it isn’t healthy!

Another thing I got excited about is these flower buds on this Corymbia spp. The flowers within are pink on these trees from memory, but you can get other cultivars that are red and orange. As soon as the flowers appear, I’ll be there snapping away, getting plenty of photos!

Now, I may have said before that I love gum trees as they lose their bark in spring every year. This is for several reasons, including the range of colours visible over the bark as the old comes off to show the new, as you can see below.

I love jacaranda flowers. The purple colour and shape are so pretty and don’t last too long before they are gone for the year.

I’ll leave it there as I am starting to get a little sleepy after a busy week. I hope you have a very good and relaxing Sunday.
