I think that summer has finally decided to start arriving today! The humidity is at 54% at work as I write. I don’t believe a word of it as it feels a lot worse! The temperature is at 28.9 (feels like 29.3) degrees Celsius. Too hot to bother in many ways!

What have I been doing in the baking heat? Weeding. You can’t get more exciting than that! I have been doing it in the sun today, as it’s meant to be hotter tomorrow, so I’ll be hiding in the shade I think!

The sun cream and long-sleeved t shirt and full length trousers have been put on and I’ve gone and got a broad-brimmed hat from the hardware store, which is better than the cap I have (issued by my employer). Gloves are on my hands a lot of the day but I put sun cream on those when gloves are not.

Being a redhead of northern English extraction, I struggle in this heat big time. I still wonder how I ended here in Australia working outside-I’d be better in somewhere like Canada or Norway really!

While I am here, I’ll share a few photos of plants you, as that’s what is spend my time with in one way or another. The first is of lomandra flowers and seeds. Lomandra is an Australian native plant that is often called a McDonalds car park plant as it is used everywhere in the landscape as it is an incredibly tough plant.

Blue flax lily seeds are such a great colour when ripe.

I also enjoy looking at fern fronds as they unfurl, so here are a few! These come from tree ferns, also native to Australia.

Finally is some flowers from a a paperbark, possibly marrow-leaved paperbark, again another native of Australia.
