A lovely spring day

Today is a lovely spring day, with the sun out and about and temperatures at 22 degrees at 11.30 am. I was out early this morning taking my son out to his friend’s house, so I thought that I would get my swimming done early after I dropped him off. An outdoor swim was very nice, with Cuddles the cat also approving of the temperatures by lying in the sun!

In terms of plants, I found a mulberry tree this morning outside a fire station. You don’t see many mulberry trees in Sydney, when you do they are often in random places like at the fire station or in public parks-usually bigger trees that were planted a good while ago before the land was the park, etc. Until I got to Australia, I’d never tried a mulberry-I’ve discovered they are rather tasty. Do note that the black fruit is the ripe fruit, leave the pink ones to ripen!

Eucalyptus trees always have interesting bark, that’s my favourite feature of them. They also have great branch forms. Some people complain that they do provide much shade, which is true-if you want shade, there are many, many trees that will give that shade, including other Australian native species. Eucalyptus trees are a fabulous genus of trees that are definitely under appreciated!

While I have to stay at home to do more studying, even though it’s a lovely, warm spring day, it was good to get out and about. Cuddles the cat will not doubt come and help in the only way cats can-she will be a complete hinderance, in the cutest way possible and put a smile on my face when doing so!
