So, I’ll do the cute first as I think we all need cuteness on a Sunday evening. My sweet little cat looking super adorable in her sleep. How she managed to sleep in this position is beyond me, but she does it well!

Below is the lovely pink flower Hibiscus rosa-sinensis. I love these flowers as they are always bright and colourful, especially on a cloudy day.

Ulmus parvifolia, or Chinese Elm, is a tree that are fabulous trees when mature. The bark is interesting, they have a sprawling crowns that provide plenty of shade in summer and I also like the delicate leaves. The trouble with them I find here in Sydney is that they are quite weedy! Otherwise a lovely tree.

Here are three seperate inflorescences (flowers) of Furcraea foetida. These plants are so impressive for their size. Here in Australia this is an invasive weed. Where these are located is on a cliff edge, so not ideal for removing safely!

Another hibiscus flower, just because it’s colourful!

This is the fabulous bark of Melaleuca stylphelioides or a prickly-barked paperbark. These trees certainly get more character as they age, with the bark becoming more ‘papery’ and craggy-it’s a species I don’t see enough of.

I love a bit of a stream so here is one from a walk I had about three weeks ago.

Below is some very ugly paving. This is the back common area of my apartment block. Stuff like this is really dull and, quite frankly, dangerous! It would have been done on the cheap, with the soil shrinkage/erosion around the pavers being even more of an eyesore.

This is another problem right here, how is this tree supposed to thrive when the majority of the area surrounding the tree has tarmac over it? My local council needs to have a word with itself as this is just ugly and bad landscape management!

I have mentioned my hatred of weed matting before as it just does not work! Here is some sitting over a tree root, and, what do you know? There are weeds growing over the weed matting! Don’t be lazy and do your weeding as weeds appear!
