Today in plants

Today has been another busy day, as every day at work is during the summer. I did come across many plants that added a bit of colour to my day.

First up is some variegated star jasmine. This isn’t to everyone’s taste, but I like it a fair bit.

Next is the flower from a new tree, Brachychiton discolour. I think this flower is really interesting. In all honesty, I have been going past these trees every day for the past eighteen months and thought they were the closely related Brachychiton rupestris. The bark and leaves look almost identical, but I thinks it’s great that I have a new native Australian plant to learn about!

Annuals are a showy splash of colour any time they are planted, so here are a selection of their colourful flowers, including a thistle flower as it also looks rather pretty!

Finally, this foliage on a Leucadendron ‘Burgundy Sunset’. Again, I have never seen this cultivar before, but it is one that I really like-the foliage is such a great colour.
