Odds and ends this week

There are a few things that have got my attention this week, both at home and while out and about.

I think the colours of the flowers on these beans (Phaseolus coccineus-bean ‘Painted Lady’) are really pretty. There are plenty of flower buds on these plants, so I’m hoping for many beans in the weeks to come!

I’m also looking forward to getting some cucumbers. There are plenty of flowers about for sure, so I’m hoping to get plenty of produce here too!

At home we have some gardenias around. When they are in flower, there is this lovely almost creamy smell which I find really nice.

These pink frangipani flowers are just lovely. I like all frangipani flowers but I think these pink ones are my favourite.

Banksia, as a genus, is such an iconic Australian genus. Banksia serrata, or old man banksia (so called due to its wrinkly bark) is a species local to me and one that I quite like. In the picture below, there is some new growth appearing.

Don’t ask me what species of fungus this yellow mushroom comes from, but it is a rather startling colour against the soil.

These fruits belong to a lilly pilly. They aren’t yet quite ripe but go add bit of interest in the garden.
