The plan was to get busy in the garden today and do some more seed sowing, pot seedlings up and finish tidying up outside, after I swept up yesterday. My plans have changed after the large amount of rain that we had overnight, which is continuing this morning. Don’t get me wrong, we are desperate for the rain at the moment, but if it stopped for an hour it would be great!
Instead, what I did earlier, is get the rain jacket on and have a mad dash outside. I sow all my seedlings in coir pots so that I don’t have to disturb the roots when I pot seedlings up into the larger pots. Some of these started disintegrating due to the amount of rain, thus the mad dash to get these ones potted into a larger pot I had ready to go. I then had to move the rest of my little coir pots underneath the balcony for the apartment above us, just so I can do the rest of the potting up in hopefully dry weather during the week (with assistance from the furry apprentice gardener Cuddles the cat). Yesterday, I did managed to harvest the last of my peas, which will make up a part of our dinner this evening.
Gardening is one of those things that always brings some sort of challenge to overcome. Things usually take far longer than expected, the weather can be a challenge in all it throws at us and we still want to go out and do it all again-well, maybe only those of us who are a bit daft in the head! I still enjoy gardening though, seeing plants grow, flowers appearing all showy and colourful and eating any food that I manage to produce make the effort worth it.
