My week in gardening

This week has been a week that has been getting warmer, with it being mostly mostly perfect spring weather. Only Friday was wet, but we only had 3.2mm of rain in my area.

Several of my plants are either flowering or about to flower, including my mandarin tree, broad beans, peas and Gasteria. My broccoli and onion seedlings are growing strongly so far, along with all my flower seedlings. While not a lot, I have harvested three pea pods from the first batch of seeds sown.

I have also seen some more seeds as follows:

  • Fragaria vesca var. ‘Benary Ruegan’-strawberry
  • Capsicum annuum ‘Mini Sweet Mix’-capsicum
  • Capsicum annum ‘Mini Sweet Mix’-capsicum
  • Solanum lycopersicum ‘Tommy Toe’-tomatoes

Whilst out in my little garden, I also swept up all the leaf litter on the patio as it was a bit messy after the wind and rain on Friday. I also found a pea plant in my little area where I compost all the leaf litter that I clean up. I’m not totally sure how it got there, but it seems to be happy doing its thing so I’ll keep it and harvest what I can (provided the birds don’t eat them first!).
