Today’s plant treasures

Today has been a good day in terms of finding good plants to show you while I’ve been out and about. As the weather is warming up slowly as we head to spring here I Australia, lots of plant are starting to grow again, looking good with it.

Firstly, we have some nice, bright new growth on a lilly pilly (Syzigium australe). The yellow-green leaves with a hint of red look lovely in the sunshine.

The camellias I see on a daily basis are still going really strong with their flowering. Below are a few I saw today.

Next is Cordyline fruticosa with its red foliage and flowers.

Another plant that is a little different to what I normally see, with its unusual pink and blue flowers. It’s a bromeliad called matchstick plant or Aechmea gamosepala.

Lavender has started to flower too.

Lavandula sp.

Rosemary is also looking good.

Ctenanthe setosa has great looking leaves, shown below.

Some flowers the have the most amazing smell as you walk past them, as well as looking good are these Jaminium polyanthum flowers.

Finally, I took these last photos when I got to work this morning, not long after dawn. It’s the crowns of some Eucalyptus trees against the sky.
