What’s been happening today?

In my little patch, there isn’t much to report really, other than all my crops are continuing to grow nicely an that the sun is out, even though it is feeling cold (for Sydney at least).

I get to spend the weekend with this gorgeous mischief machine!

I did a quick sweep of the patio area so that it doesn’t get too messy. I really don’t like having to do any sweeping, but if I leave it for longer, it is always far worse! I have also given all my plants a quick watering as we have only had 4.2mm of rain in my area this week and that’s not enough, especially for my potted trees.

My new Phalanopsis orchid

All my runner beans have now germinated, which I have been excited about. I love watching things germinate and grow-I find the fact that a small seed has the capacity to germinate, grow and produce endless forms of plants, flowers and food endlessly fascinating! The basic needs are soil of the right temperature, sunlight and enough water to break the seeds dormancy and away they go. Both my Saintpaulia are still flowering happily away, brightening my bedroom a treat. I’ve also had another mandarin off my tree, which was tasty. All my cacti are resting over the winter so are no trouble whatsoever.

While I was out earlier I decided to buy myself a Phalanopsis orchid. I have fancied getting one for a while now, and thought why not? I still need to do some more reading to be able to care for it properly, but that will keep me busy. As I really enjoy reading and learning about all things plants, then this will not be a chore at all-a good weekend pass time in my book!

All in all, a good day in the garden/dealing with indoor plants. Now for that reading!
