More planting in my garden

Time flies past too quickly sometimes! It’s over a month since I last said what was going on. It is now officially winter here in Sydney, but I can still have plenty of things growing in my little garden area.

My mandarin tree has several mandarins on it that will be ready to eat soon. The peas and sweet peas that I planted at the end of April are growing nicely.

This weekend, I have sown two different broad bean varieties, which are ‘Crimson Flowered’ and ‘Aprovecho’, along with some more ‘Greenfeast’ peas. I have also sown some flower seeds, with the aim of attracting some bees and other insects. The species chosen are Cosmos bipinnatus, billy buttons (Pycnoserus globosus) and Echinacea purpurea.

Other jobs over the weekend include sweeping all the fallen leaves from the maple tree that’s now lost most of its leaves and generally trying to keep the patio area tidy. Watering of all my existing plants is another standard job that I have to do regularly.
